Recessional Lord, whose love in humble service

When I joined the Choir (singing tenor) in November 1990, we sang L J White’s simple setting of the Prayer of St Richard (found in the Oxford Easy Anthem Book) on my first Sunday. I don’t know if it was a staple of the Choir’s repertoire before that date, but I do know that we haven’t sung it again since then, until today. The internet seems unforthcoming regarding the composer’s biographical details. Various web references seem to agree on a birth date of 1910, but the date of death is given variously (and without any evident authority) as 1947, 1957, 1970 and “some time in the 1970s”. (Another school of unverified thought goes with dates of 1831 to 1913, but this probably can't be right, as the piece we sang has a first copyright date of 1947.) Mr White was, it is variously claimed, a school master at one or more of Malvern and Worskop Preparatory Schools, and St Andrew’s School, Willesden Green. Can anyone shed more (authoritative) light?
