When the Cathedral hosted the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux in 2009, the queues reached several times round the block. For some reason the visit of St Anthony of Padua was less of a draw, and the congregation for Mass celebrated in the presence of his relics was a bit smaller than that for a normal Sunday. But we were treated to fine preaching from a friar from Padua, and the celebration – for which we followed the readings and, indirectly, the propers for the feast of St Anthony, was friendly and down to earth. I found the final hymn on the internet, and just tweaked the words a little. We sang it to the tune Blaenwern.
